To us, after the developments during the last 30 years or so, we’re in the midst of a quite remarkable revolution in the ways in which, we, the people, can get help and information – to us it’s no less extraordinary than the revolution in which, we’ve gone, over the last 100 years or so, from being restricted in our means of transport to horses and buggies, to having the option of travelling in electric motor cars. And it’s a revolution that has a lot further to go.
And part of this revolution has been the development, apparently comparatively recently, of chat facilities. Increasingly, we’re coming across information technology consultants, at least, who we can chat with, which we find quite exciting. If we go to their websites, we find something like this on them,
and we can start chatting.
Over a relatively short time – say 30 to 60 minutes – we can get help and information, and most importantly, at least with, say, www.itstrategic.com.au, we get it in writing – within a short time of concluding the chat, at least with some chat facilities, perhaps not all, we receive an email which includes a transcript of the whole chat.
Of course, if you don’t end up with anything in writing, the chat facilities become no different to telephone discussions and face-to-face consultations, in which you so often find yourself dealing with people who are not very knowledgeable or helpful.
One of the advantages of having things in writing, is that, if you receive something that you feel is of poor quality, you can email it to the top management of the organisation you’re dealing with, which MAY result in you getting something better – if, as is so often the case, it turns out that no one in the top management could care less, you should obviously be looking for a better organisation to deal with.
As far as we’re concerned, being able to use chat facilities is not as good as being able to send off emails seeking help and information, and, in due course, getting a high quality response, but it’s certainly the next best thing. And, in one respect, it may even be better – with the chat facilities, which we’re still learning about, it appears that you can usually get your help and information within an hour, whereas it may take longer than that, perhaps much longer, to get an email response.
We hope to gradually put together a list of consultants who have chat facilities. If any of our readers have come across any such consultants, please send their details to us so we can add them to our list. In the meantime, what we’re suggesting, and starting to do ourselves, is when we come across a person or an organisation that may have a chat facility, we simply Google “Their Website Chat.”

We believe that the best Internet Service Providers are those that make life the easiest for us, the people, by having ordinary email address readily available, and that when these ordinary email addresses are used to seek help and information, high quality responses are invariably received.
Why, when there are Internet Service Providers like this, would anyone have an interest in any of the rest???
Having said this, increasingly there are Internet Service Providers who have chat facilities, and our view is that, while getting help and information by sending emails off seeking it is by far the best, getting it by using chat facilities is the next best. More later.

One of our readers reports that, in dealing with the Officeworks store at Northmead, NSW, he finds that it’s often quite difficult to find a team member to help you, and that, even if you find one, he or she is often too busy to provide help, and if you are seeking help on anything that’s at all complicated, they can’t help you anyway.
So, today, on Fri. 24 Jan, at 8.42 am, this was emailed to the store, using the ordinary email address – Northmead.manager@officeworks.com.au.
We’ll let you know what happens next.
What fascinates us, and we’ve written about this before, is that Officeworks is a subsidiary of Wesfarmers, and Wesfarmers has an ordinary email address on it’s homepage – info@wesfarmers.com.au – and that other readers have reported that when they’ve had any problems with Officeworks, they’ve copied any emails sent to Officeworks to this email address, and even though, according to Wikipedia, Wesfarmers has 223,ooo employees!!! they’ve found that it has people standing by that provide prompt and effective assistance.
And, of course, Bunnings is a Wesfarmers subsidiary, and it seems to us that many of the things we’ve written about Officeworks apply to Bunnings as well.

Further to this previous post, originally dated 4 Jun. 2018, in which we pointed out that we had these two problems with JustAnswer – (1) that it didn’t seem possible for those who sought help and information to choose the consultant to provide the help and information, it was always chosen by JustAnswer, and, (2) that is seemed that claims abounded on the internet that the information that was provided to pay the $5 initial deposit, which they required before they did anything, was used to take money to which they weren’t entitled.
Since then we’ve come across a third problem – instances where you can think you’ve gone to another website to ask for help and information, but you’ve been tricked into going to JustAnswer. So you’ve got to be careful. We can’t recall any instances of this at present, but if and when we come across one or more in the future, we’ll add the details to this post.
And, in relation to the second problem, it is occurred to us that there may be two different means of paying the initial deposit – those in which the details can be used to take monies to which they’re not entitled, and those in which they can’t. For example, if we pay the initial $5 deposit by a Visa Credit Card, does this put them in the position to take further monies? Obviously, if there are these two different types, and we decide to deal with JustAnswer, it would be best to use one of the types which doesn’t enable them to take further monies. But, are there these two different types? At present we don’t know, and don’t know how to find out.
Perhaps there are readers who know, who could provide us with information on this, which we could perhaps use ourselves and perhaps share with other readers.
